How Often Should You Post On Your Blog

When we started our blog, we were faced with a few questions, like “How often should we post on our blog?” Will posting more frequently give us more results?” “Is there a specific number of articles we need to publish per day or week?”

Over time, we got the answer to these questions, and it is that THERE IS NO IDEAL FREQUENCY.

Google doesn’t have a specific number of blog posts that it requires you to make in a specific timeframe. So, follow a frequency that works best for you.

Below are a few factors that you should use to determine how frequently you will post on your blog:

• The Goal of Your Blog

If you are running your blog as a full-time business that you will earn from, you should post frequently. The main goal of this kind of blog is to increase organic traffic and improve clicks and earnings, so you need to keep your content fresh and consistent.

This kind of blog requires you to post 4 to 5 times a week or more.

Quality is still more important than quantity here, so you need to make sure you are not just publishing for publishing’s sake. It should be relevant and meaningful.

This kind of blog is usually stressful to run, and you could experience burnout in the process, so don’t fail to outsource the posts or get a helping hand when needed.

Alternatively, if the goal of your blog is to use it as a marketing strategy to improve brand awareness and lead generation, your frequency will be different.

Posting on this kind of blog is less frequent but more intentional and calculated because it’s focused on talking about your brand and its offers.

Here, the goal isn’t just growing traffic and earnings through clicks. You need to publish content that will keep your visitors engaged enough to turn into leads and conversions for your brand.

Building an effective email list is also a goal in this case.

You are basically using your blog posts as an extra way of improving your brand’s revenue and growth, instead of just for the traffic and clicks. Hence, you will post less while focusing on other aspects of marketing.

Posting 1 or 2 articles a week is okay in this scenario.

• The Niche

Blogs in the news, celebrity, and sports niche need to post frequently to stay relevant and ahead. In these niches, there is always something to talk about each day, so you need to keep up with these trends to stay relevant.

However, a niche such as kitchen utensils doesn’t require you to post every day. So, the frequency of posting in this niche will vary from those that are based on trends.

• The Age Of Your Blog

When your site is new, you need to post often to get it recognized by Google and improve its topical authority.

Posting frequently about the topics in your niche is a great way of helping the search engine understand the niche it is focused on and improving its credibility and authority.

But for a mature blog that is already ranking, the credibility and topical authority have already been built. That’s why it is ranked in the first place. So, you are not obligated to post frequently on it.

Just choose a frequency that you can follow effectively without compromising on the quality of the content.

• Your Schedule

Another factor that should determine how often you post on your blog is how much time you have to spend on it.

Posting on your blog frequently isn’t a crime. In fact, there are a lot of benefits to it.

Having fresh and quality content on your blog consistently will help you gain trust and credibility from your readers and Google. It also makes it easier for Google to crawl and index your content, amongst several other benefits.

So, if you have enough time on your hands to keep up with it, do it.

Nevertheless, if you are a busy person, stick to a posting schedule that works best for you, even if it’s once or twice a week.

Final Thoughts

There are benefits to posting frequently on your blog, but that doesn’t make it a rule of thumb. Find a frequency that works best for you based on the factors we have highlighted in this post, and ensure all the content you post is relevant and top-quality.

Aside from posting, you should also focus on refreshing and repurposing old content on your blog. It is a great way to improve your site’s traffic.
