5 Problems AI Can Cause in Digital Agencies

5 Problems AI Can Cause in Digital Agencies
No Comments

AI is impacting digital agencies in a lot of positive ways, from tools to insights. But at the same time, it could cause problems for these agencies.

Here are 5 of the problems that digital agencies should look out for:

1. Data Privacy and Security Concerns

These days, when employees have a large amount of data to work on, they usually use AI tools and software to speed up the tasks. However, these tools could easily be used as a key source of spyware and data theft.

When you use AI tools to speed up this process, you feed them private and sensitive data. And if the tools aren’t secured, the data could be leaked. So, you need to be very careful.

If you run a digital agency, you must treat data security as a top priority. You need to check your security measures frequently and update them when necessary.

You also need to train your staff to understand the risks involved so that they won’t make mistakes that will cost you.

One data breach can destroy years of trust. Clients don’t forgive that easily. And you don’t want to start explaining to a client that private data they trusted you with has suddenly been leaked to their competitor.

You can avoid a data breach by ensuring that your access controls are strict and that only authorized personnel can access sensitive data.

Cyber threats are also evolving, so you need to make sure that you keep your security technologies updated at all times.

In addition to that, you must make sure you carefully check any AI tool you want to upload data to, to avoid data leakage.

2. Too Much Reliance on Automation

As a digital agency owner, you need to ensure that you don’t depend too much on AI tools.

AI makes work easier. It boosts efficiency and makes it easier for agencies to carry out repetitive tasks. But I’ve seen agencies automate themselves into mediocrity.

When you let AI handle ALL your content writing, ad targeting, customer responses, and strategy building, you lose your creative edge. Your marketing campaigns start to look generic.

Automation works best when it is added to human creativity. So, find a way and strike a balance between them.

You can use AI tools to do the heavy work that involves checking data and recognizing trends, so that you and your staff can have enough time to tap into your creativity and create campaigns and stories that your customers can relate to.

There is also a possibility of AI tools creating inaccurate and biased content. Hence, it is your responsibility to always check, review, and edit the content and make sure it is accurate and has the human touch.

3. Staying Up-to-date with Rapidly Evolving Technological Changes

AI is constantly evolving at a very fast pace, and what is in trend today might be outdated by tomorrow. The problem is, this pace is often too much for many digital agencies to keep up with.

These days, digital agencies need to be on their toes at all times if they want to remain relevant and competitive. They need to always learn and adapt to new technologies.

Although this might sound stressful and demanding, if your agency can cultivate and keep up with this proactive approach to learning and adapting, it can leverage AI tools to handle client projects and deliver the best quality of services at all times.

4. Client Relationship and Expectation Management

With the way AI tools are handling tasks, there will definitely be clients who will either want to terminate your contract and do the jobs themselves using AI tools or who will expect you to deliver jobs at the speed of light because you are using AI tools. This can create unrealistic expectations.

It is your duty to have a talk with these clients and make them understand that human input is still needed even with the use of AI tools. You need to ensure you make them understand that after AI tools carry out tasks, you need to check the content quality, engage with customers in a human way, explain audience feedback in the simplest way possible, and lots more.

This clarity will also answer the questions your clients will have about why they should pay what you charge them, even though you are using AI tools. Explaining things to them will also help keep your relationship with them on good terms.

5. Changing Customer Behaviors

AI tools usually give insights by analyzing patterns and data of events that have already happened, but there are certain events that could happen out of the blue and instantly change how customers behave. Hence, if the customer trends change swiftly, it will be difficult for AI tools to quickly adapt to them.

So, if you use just AI tools to find customer trends, you might miss out on certain trends.

A good example is the sudden COVID-19 virus that hit the world in 2020. When a lockdown was declared globally to tame the virus, there was a swift change in how customers shopped and behaved. So, agencies needed to quickly find a way around these changes so that they could stay relevant and still serve their customers even with the changes.

AI models are not built with these kinds of swift changes in mind, so they might struggle to quickly adapt to them. So, you need to combine human effort with these AI models to stay up to date.

Final Thoughts

There are several ways in which AI models are helping agencies optimize their operations, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have their fair share of challenges.

However, if you can understand these issues and work towards handling them, your agency will be able to make the most out of AI models, maintain your integrity, and still keep your customers satisfied.
